History regarding this movement;
The Masterpiece FHF29 is a limited series of 440 units in steel, 260 units in bi-color, and 100 units in gold.
The FHF29 timepiece comes from the Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon, and was produced from 1933. The barrel-shaped timepiece was very popular at the time, and is now at the beginning of a revival.
Maurice Lacroix says that this timepiece in particular has caused the necessary headaches to adapt it to the requirements that ML places on the movements of the Masterpiece series. The parts of this watch were produced piece by piece in quantities of 144 pieces (12x12 pieces). If the individual parts all came from the same production run, assembly was no problem. Everything was perfectly coordinated. However, when the production machines were retuned to make parts from other timepieces, and then re-tuned again for another production run of the FHF29, it became a lot more difficult to put together a well-functioning timepiece from parts from different production runs. The batch of old timepieces FHF29 that ML bought came from different production runs. It was a difficult job to always produce a well-fitting timepiece from that enormous load of parts. For the total of 800 pieces that eventually came on the market of this watch, that was perfectly successful.
The steel copies have 15 jewels, the bi-color and gold copies have 16 jewels. The timepiece is 35.5 mm x 22 mm x 9.50 mm in size, the tick number is a nice slow 18,000 A/h. Furthermore, ML has used the best materials for the springs and spirals. Natural sapphire glass front and back, and a dial with beautiful details of 925 Sterling silver.
