Description

1940's GALLET MULTICHRON YACHTING Vintage Mens Large Size Chronograph - Stainless Steel

Rare & Very Collectable - All Original - 90 Day Warranty

Today's offering showcases this awesome all-original Gallet MultiChron yachting chronograph.

The MultiChron Yachting, introduced by Gallet in 1945, is the world's first wrist chronograph with 45 minute recording and 15-10-5 regatta count down timer. Besides being designed for yacht raching, the MultiChron Yachting functions as an all-purpose 45 minute chronograph.

Partly due to military requirements, the late 1930's and 1940's were an important period for the development of technically advanced chronographs. As a mid-sized watch manufacturer Gallet & Co. was a specialist, focusing on creating chronographs of superior quality. Her Majesty put Britain's timing needs during World War I into the hands of the company's wristwatches, selecting them as its first chronograph supplier in 1916.

Building on the success of their wartime timepieces, the Swiss firm grew into a significant supplier to the world's armed forces.

Of the many watches produced by Gallet in last 120 years, the MultiChron chronographs are arguably the most historically important and collectible today.

This very desirable version is the largest size MultiChron Yachting, introduced in 1949, measures just over 37mm in diameter without the crown.

It is all-original down to the dial, all hands, pushers, and even the winding crown and is in gorgeous condition! It features the rarer of the two dial versions whose forty-five minute counter does not fully fill up the subsidiary dial.

Several years ago the watch was fully serviced. It is part of a discerning collection we are now selling from a renowned pediatrician. The chronograph works perfectly and crisply resets to exact zero.

Included with the purchase is a 90-day C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
